I Spy With My Little Eye…

Something beginning with ‘G’….

We’re not sure why, but green is a big hit with us at the moment – it may be because Emerald is the traditional birthstone for May, or it may be a bit of a capricious whim but it is gemstones in shades of green that we seem to be currently lusting after and mainly designing with.  But it’s not just us lusting after green this year, so are the stars:

Taylor Swift in Green

From the ‘bottle glass green’ provided by chrome diopside to the somewhat translucent and ethereal green provided by gemstones such as prehnite, there is a shade to suit everyone…. So let us try to make you green with envy (like what we did there?)…

Below are just a couple of the latest additions:

Chrysoprase Earrings

Hand Wrapped Chrysoprase Earrings in Sterling Silver, £60

Moonstone & Emerald Earrings

Luxury White Moonstone & Emerald Earrings, £170

Chunky Prehnite Bracelet

Chunky Gem Prehnite Bracelet, £85

It that isn’t enough to peak your interest then our discount code ‘URFAB‘ is still running to give you 10% off your first purchase.  Plenty more green gems on the way!

New Handmade To Order Rings

leave a comment »

Our new selection of handmade to order rings has started appearing online.  Indeed, we have a number of new styles, including wide anticlastic bands in 100% recycled silver and hand twisted silver rings with a lightly hammered finish.  We particularly like our new ‘ring on ring’ designs, which will also be made available in a number of other finishes/widths and textures, as well as other precious metals.

We’ve had great fun making these rings and are pleased to report that we have new gemstone rings on the way too, including our ever popular Oregon blue opal rings.

This one is still a work in progress – but is entirely made from sterling silver D-shaped wire and sterling silver sheet.  The stone is lapis lazuli, which has been given a slight matt finish to contrast with the highly polished silver.   We’re mainly experimenting with different techniques at the moment, not to mention constantly rearranging the workshop for the most ideal layout (so I can stop smacking my head on the bench peg every time I bend down to get a mandrel or doming punch etc).

This one shows the stone before we took the high polish off with a bit of tripoli (pulses racing whilst we did it) – we still have a larger, AAA grade, oval lapis with a high polish, which we intend on putting into silver at some point.  Slightly overwhelmed with the sheer number of cabochons and cut stones we actually have in stock.. they accumulate and then you do a stock check and realise that perhaps you can’t really justify 50 black onyx cabs, 12 chrysoprase, 4 Andamooka matrix, 6 white sapphires and so on!

New Oxidised Silver Jewellery Range

leave a comment »

Our new black silver jewellery range is now live – it features classical pearl necklaces with a twist and dramatic pendants, like the one above.  We really love the contrast of black silver against gold vermeil and other bright gemstones (although, rather annoyingly, since making the necklaces we haven’t been able to get Sam Sparrow’s ‘Black & Gold’ out of our heads).  The full range isn’t up yet, so there is still more to come, and, of course, if you like the range but are looking for something more specific, or slightly different, simply email for more details and/or a quote.
